What is Bitcoin Gold?

Bitcoin Gold is a hard fork of Bitcoin, focused on overcoming the centralization and expense of the mining process. To achieve this, the project modified the Proof of Work algorithm to prevent ASIC devices from mining the network. This way, users are able to mine BTG with a simpler computer setup and graphic processing unit (GPU). The team also launched a program called BTGPay; to create an ecosystem of merchants and payment processors.

Why does Bitcoin Gold have value?

Bitcoin Gold is one of the many Bitcoin forks that aims to improve the original Bitcoin. While it achieves the proposed goals, by reducing the cost of mining, the team hasn’t been trustworthy, and the project hasn't been widely adopted. Network attacks have cost investors and exchanges money.
